Is Depression real?

Is Depression real? What a depressed person looks like ? Is all this a mind game?

Majority of the population still believes there is no such thing as depression. Only the person going through the depression can understand its severity. One of my acquaintance was in depression for approximately 2 years. She was fighting her battle all alone.

Depression is not always a sad face with lots of tension on his/ her face. Sometimes its the smiling face near you who has gave up. Gave up on himself, gave up on his/ her loved ones, gave up on his/her dreams, and the worst gave up on his/her life. This is what I understood and learnt from her.

Depression not only affect your physical health or your moods, but it slowly and slowly kills you from inside outside. She was fighting her battle all alone. Trying hard to normalize the things back again. But failing miserably every time.

The only solution a depressed person finds out to stop his/ her misery is suicide. well, yes depression is a major reason for suicides. Luckily, she didn't committed suicide, she fought with her issues bravely.

Depression can be so severe that it can left you with a continuous and strong feeling of  worthlessness, hopelessness and sadness. The person feels lonely and experience n number of mood swings. We consider these mood swings as arrogance of the person and left the person alone.

Well, here it is important to understand the mental health of the person. Not all smiling faces are actually happy, maybe they are struggling hard in their life just for a moment of real happiness. Understand others before it's too late. Help those who are in need and always seek  for help if you are distressed. Depression is a serious issue and everyone should respect mental health of others.

MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!

It was the break after my first semester, when i visited to one of my mother's friend house of course with my mother only. There she asked me what course I had choose for my future. Since i was science student till 12th, so she was expecting something like MBBS or B. Pharma or something. Once I told her that I am studying psychology, she laughed and asked me so can you read minds? She further suggested me to drop psychology and choose something else. She even told my mother that psychology has no future. She will be mad in coming years if she will stay with mad people's.

Living in the 21st century, has changed a lot of things in society, be it a importance of education for women or fight for the rights of a normal person. Still one important aspect of society is still under- valued, i.e., Mental Health. Mental Health of a person is still under valued. We as the most advance generation, still do not understand the importance of awareness of mental health. We still live in the world, where psychology is "reading minds". But no, a big no. Importance of psychology and mental health is one of the most important aspect of society which every individual should be aware of.
