Eating Disorders!

Food is one of the basic necessity of humans. Good food can brighten any sort of mood. If you're happy, eat something; if you're angry, eat something; if you're sad, definitely eat something. Healthy eating habits is what we need to stay healthy and fit.

But not everyone's eating habit is healthy and fit for them. Feeding and eating disorders are maladaptive and unhealthy efforts to control body- weight. These disorders are found to be increasing rapidly and mostly in youngsters.

There are many reasons which can cause these eating disorders. It is important to identify these disorders in yourself and your loved ones and get immediate help to recover from them. One of the major reason which cause this disorder is social pressure. Our society has made a stereotype that thin is beautiful, fair is beautiful; so to achieve this individuals drastically change their eating patterns and harm them. Other reason could be the psychological factors. Individual going through any psychological disorder( like anxiety, depression, phobias, etc...)  feels like everything is slipping from their hands. They have no control over anything now, especially themselves. So to overcome this feeling they change their eating habits drastically and this give them a sense of controlling( control over their eating habits). Some other reasons could be teasing for the body shape or making fun while individual is eating, etc...

A person suffering from these disorders is not hard to recognize and definitely not hard to treat. A person suffering from eating disorders shows many symptoms which can be easily recognized. Some of the symptoms are-

1. PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS: regularly changing in weight of a person, laziness, dizziness, changes in sleep pattern, irregular menstrual cycle, etc...

2. BEHAVIORAL SYMPTOMS: avoiding food, hiding food to eat later, regularly checking the weight and calories, etc...

3. PSYCHOLOGICAL SYMPTOMS: obsession over exercise, unnecessary dieting to look cool, etc...

To sum up, eating disorders are of 2- types:

1. ANOREXIA NERVOSA

Anorexia Nervosa is a excessive and intense fear of gaining weight. People suffering from this disorder do anything just to look slim and thin. They starve themselves to that level where weight of persons drops to dangerously low levels. According to research, females suffer from this disorder more than males. This disorder has some dangerous and fatal effects on both physical and psychological health.

2. BULIMIA NERVOSA

Bulimia Nervosa or Binge- Purge Cycle is eating large amounts of food at short rate of intervals, followed by some compensatory behavior to loose the gain weight. Compensatory behavior may include vomiting, fasting, excessive exercise, etc... The major reason for this disorder is also the social stereotype that thin is beautiful, to accomplish this people choose unhealthy ways to reduce their weight.
