Reasons For Suicides!

INDIA- the country with beautiful cultures and Diversity, claiming the togetherness of people living in here. Well, if this is true so how it can be possible that the same country India has been recorded for the highest suicides rates in the whole world. India's suicide rates are 16.5 suicides per 100000 people, followed by Sri Lanka with suicides rates of 14.6 per 100000 people.

Suicide is not a easy decision to be taken by a person, just think of a mental state of a person who commits suicide. The irony is, when a person needs help to overcome from their suicidal thoughts everyone ignores them by stating that they are doing for attention. But once a person commits suicide, no one believes and states how he can do that? He can't commit suicide.

Here are some common reasons why people feels suicidal.

1. They feel they have lost their purpose of life.

2. They feel hopeless about their future.

3. Constant bully

4. Loneliness

5. Feeling of being unsafe in surroundings

6. They feel more like just existing, not living.

7. Constant grief and sufferings

8. Feeling of being a burden

9. Fear of embarrassment in public

10. Constant unavoidable negative thoughts

Look for symptoms in your loved ones, and help them when you can. There is no point in regretting and blaming once the loss has been done.

Pets can help to get through Depression!

Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.  - Anatole France

Depression is a continuous cycle of hollow feelings, feelings of worthlessness, feelings of being lonely, to sum up basically feeling an end of life. A person looses his/ her every hope to be happy again, to be valued again, and to be a normal person again.

In these most toughest and loneliest times of a person, when friends, family, colleagues, or peers , everyone left the depressed person alone, pets can be a best therapy.

The best therapy to a depressed person comes in the form of wet nose and wagging tails. Well yes, dogs, cats, rabbits, etc... can be one of the best therapies to overcome depression, anxiety, or stress. This is also known as the pet therapy.

Pets provide you the best companionship, constant love and affection, which is what a depressed person needs. Pets not only improve our psychological well- being but they also improve our physiological health. A friendly and loving pet can help in maintaining blood pressure, heart rates, muscles tension, and also makes breathing calmer.

Pets maintains the level of cortisol and oxytocin in the body which naturally helps to reduce stress and maintain blood pressure. Pets can even help to maintain aggression in humans.

In many studies conducted, scientists has proved that pets help in:
1. increasing self- esteem
2. Staying physically fit
3. Less lonely
4. More extrovert
5. Less Fearful
6. More conscientious and less pre- occupied

Pets also teach us to live in present moment and enjoy the present moment.
Well, to sum up a depressed person needs someone who could again make him feel worthy and valued. And pets are the best companion for this.

Eating Disorders!

Food is one of the basic necessity of humans. Good food can brighten any sort of mood. If you're happy, eat something; if you're angry, eat something; if you're sad, definitely eat something. Healthy eating habits is what we need to stay healthy and fit.

But not everyone's eating habit is healthy and fit for them. Feeding and eating disorders are maladaptive and unhealthy efforts to control body- weight. These disorders are found to be increasing rapidly and mostly in youngsters.

There are many reasons which can cause these eating disorders. It is important to identify these disorders in yourself and your loved ones and get immediate help to recover from them. One of the major reason which cause this disorder is social pressure. Our society has made a stereotype that thin is beautiful, fair is beautiful; so to achieve this individuals drastically change their eating patterns and harm them. Other reason could be the psychological factors. Individual going through any psychological disorder( like anxiety, depression, phobias, etc...)  feels like everything is slipping from their hands. They have no control over anything now, especially themselves. So to overcome this feeling they change their eating habits drastically and this give them a sense of controlling( control over their eating habits). Some other reasons could be teasing for the body shape or making fun while individual is eating, etc...

A person suffering from these disorders is not hard to recognize and definitely not hard to treat. A person suffering from eating disorders shows many symptoms which can be easily recognized. Some of the symptoms are-

1. PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS: regularly changing in weight of a person, laziness, dizziness, changes in sleep pattern, irregular menstrual cycle, etc...

2. BEHAVIORAL SYMPTOMS: avoiding food, hiding food to eat later, regularly checking the weight and calories, etc...

3. PSYCHOLOGICAL SYMPTOMS: obsession over exercise, unnecessary dieting to look cool, etc...

To sum up, eating disorders are of 2- types:

1. ANOREXIA NERVOSA

Anorexia Nervosa is a excessive and intense fear of gaining weight. People suffering from this disorder do anything just to look slim and thin. They starve themselves to that level where weight of persons drops to dangerously low levels. According to research, females suffer from this disorder more than males. This disorder has some dangerous and fatal effects on both physical and psychological health.

2. BULIMIA NERVOSA

Bulimia Nervosa or Binge- Purge Cycle is eating large amounts of food at short rate of intervals, followed by some compensatory behavior to loose the gain weight. Compensatory behavior may include vomiting, fasting, excessive exercise, etc... The major reason for this disorder is also the social stereotype that thin is beautiful, to accomplish this people choose unhealthy ways to reduce their weight.

Power of Words!

It is quite tough task to explain someone what is depression, if that person is not depressed or haven't gone through depression. Depression is lot different from sadness. A depressed person feels something like lack of emotions and only wants to isolate himself/ herself from others.

A person suffering from depression is always on verge of breaking down. Physical wounds can be treated and cured, but mental wounds always stays there and gives pain.

Depression feels like never- ending chains of restlessness, and worthlessness. It is necessary to look for those who are in depression and always help them, console them and make them feel loved.

Here are some soothing and consoling things to say to a depressed person:
1. " What can I do to bring some comfort?"
2. " Depression is strong but you're stronger."
3. " Your feelings are valid."
4. " I'm not leaving your side."
5. " Your burnout isn't due to weakness, it's due to being strong for too long."
6. " We are in this together."
7. " Thank you for still being here."
8. " It's okay if you need time and space to recharge, I won't take it personally."
9. " You are not a burden."
10. " You're so strong for fighting this."

Unknowingly, sometimes we say those things which we never meant to say but they can leave a forever and deep mark on the listener. This can be a reason for many depressed persons to completely give up on their life. Here are some things which should never be said to a depressed person.
1. " You are so lazy."
2. " There are people way worse off than you."
3. " Stop feeling sorry for yourself."
4. " You are such a buzz kill."
5. " But you don't look depressed."
6. " We all get sad from time to time."
7. " It's all in your head."
8. " Stop attention seeking."
9. " What do you have to be depressed about?"
10. " Don't be such a downer."

Always think twice before you say something harsh to someone. You never know what battle a person is going through. Your harsh words can destroy them from inside out whereas your soothing words can give them a hope.
